DOG'S DISEASES

There are several diseases in dogs that must be considered by the owners of dogs as pets, disease in many dogs are dangerous and some are not.

1. Leptospirosis

This infectious disease can’t  be taken lightly. Leptospirosis is very dangerous that require your attention to this infectious disease. Leptospirosis is caused by bacteria "Leptospira sp." that attacks the lymph, liver, eyes, nervous system, and can last a long time in the kidney. Symptoms of the disease include fever, pain in muscles, slow or less vibrant and diarrhea. Leptospirosis can spread in both humans and in other animals such as rodents through urine touches the patient incurred.

2. Rabies

Rabies or hydrophobia disease is the most malignant disease in animals because it can kill the animals affected. Rabies is a common disease that attacks wild dogs. Rabies is very dangerous because it can be transmitted to humans through the bite and can cause death if handled too late. The cause of rabies is rabies virus attacks the nervous tissue. Three groups / levels regarding this disease are :



  1. Stadium Melancholium resulting in the dog looks anxious, loss of appetite to drink and eat.
  2. Stadium Exitatie that in a few days can make dog bite anything, and run up to several kilometers away.
  3. Paraltycum the stage within a week can make a dog become paralyzed and die.


3. Parvovirus

Parvovirus disease caused by the virus 'Canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2)' which live attached around our environment, for example on clothes, cages, and other eating places. The virus is spread by cockroaches or other small insects. The symptoms that caused the form of vomiting, diarrhea, dysentery due to virus attacks the digestive tract. The disease is almost the same with diarrhea disease in humans. Only 10% of patients with this disease can survive. Dogs will lose a lot of fluids, blood vomiting and dysentery.

4. Hepatitis

Hepatitis in dogs is caused by a virus 'Canine Adeno Virus-1 (CAV-1'), which attacks the liver, kidneys and blood vessels walls through urine, feces and saliva. Hepatitis in dogs are different with hepatitis in humans, hepatitis in dogs can only be transmitted to dogs and doesn’t spread to humans. The symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, lethargy, vomiting, dysentery.

5. Canine Distemper

Canine Distemper Disease caused by 'parammyxco virus' that attacks the respiratory tract and spread to the local defense glands. Radius distribution can include the entire world, modes of transmission of this disease is through touch, and air. Usually a dog attack at a young age and adult dogs that immune systems are not good. This disease has the highest mortality rate, ie 80% of patients.
The symptoms: fever, restlessness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, mucus discharge, cough and pneumonia. Sometimes found red spots on the skin. Neurological signs include muscle spasms, convulsions, and paralysis.

6. Coronavirus

Coronavirus disease is caused by the "Corona viruses" that infect the gastrointestinal tract and cause great 'enteristis'. Corona infection usually causes only mild diarrhea, which is dangerous if it attacks simultaneously with the virus 'parvo' that can lead to death. that caused the symptoms are usually loss of appetite, lethargy and diarrhea were accompanied by a foul odor in the stool.

7. Parainfluenza

The cause of the disease parainfluenza is namely virus "Parainfluenza" that attacks the respiratory tract and can spread very quickly to other animals. Generally, if the infection is viral parainfluenza purely because the symptoms are mild or sub-clinical. But it could be worse if accompanied by infection "Bordetela". Symptoms are generally caused the cough and runny nose (rhinitis and bronchitis).

8. Pneumonia / Lung Inflammation

Pneumonia caused by a variety of viruses ranging from Parainfluenza, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Mycoplasma, Canine Herpes, Reovirus and Canine Adenovirus Type 2. Virus This virus attacks the respiratory tract, especially in young dogs when the weather is cold and windy. Symptoms are usually inflicted on nasal discharge, coughing and shortness of breath.

9. Skin Diseases

Skin disease in dogs is usually caused by fleas or mites, water bugs, bacteria and fungi. lice or mites cause itching on the skin of dogs and if scratched can cause injury. skin disease often attacks the dog in the rainy season due to contact with dirty water containing water bugs  and other germs. wounds infected by bacteria in worsening by the fungus on the skin.

10. Intestinal worms

Intestinal worms can attack any animal including humans. Generally worm that attacks are tapeworms and hookworms that can cause injury to the intestine. At first, the worms will take food in the intestine. But if the food is empty, worms will eat away at the walls of the intestine to cause injury and bleeding which released through feces.

Regular vaccination is a major step in preventing disease is a disease affecting dogs.
